Introduction to the module

This module provides an introduction to information systems concepts and methodologies, the Systems Development Life cycle, and the role played by the Systems Analyst. It provides an overview of how businesses can use computer technology to analyse information and process information to achieve their goals. The aim is to familiarise the student with the concepts and procedures involved in developing an information system. The methodology used is the Agile Iterative approach. Specifically, the course covers the System Development Life Cycle and the phases and activities that comprise each phase. The module serves as an important introduction to Systems Development. Skills and techniques learnt from this module will be required in the Information Systems 2 and 3 and Applications Development 3 modules.
