Advanced Architectural Construction is a module crafted to build on students existing construction technology and detailing knowledge. The module focuses on medium-complexity multi-story buildings and medium to long-span structures. The course requires students to apply existing knowledge and conduct self-research relating to the topics learned in lectures. This module is linked to Architectural Design 401, building upon the technical aspects of Architectural Design. Advanced Architectural Construction is a lecture-based module. However, it aims to include a collaborative, seminar-style approach to teaching and learning through a student-centred approach. Students are expected to attend seminar sessions and focus discussions on construction technology on their design resolution. This module uses a formative assessment style comprising assignments and projects to advance teacher and student knowledge and assess learning over one semester. The course ends with a portfolio exam to evaluate the student's journey throughout the semester, culminating in a mark's final award.
