Introduction to Applied Sciences comprises of FOUR sub-modules viz., Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics. The course is offered ONLINE via the MOODLE platform and TEAMS. The way we go about living our lives from day to day is largely as a result of the application of new breakthroughs and improvements in Science (for example, the act of pouring a glass of clean drinkable water from a tap in your own home is made possible as a result of a vast amount of Applied Science). Applied Science is all around us at all times improving our lives and contributing to a more efficient and hopefully a better society.
The aim of this module is to give you an insight into what Applied Science is and how it applies to your everyday life. The module will expose you to a few basic concepts in four branches of Science and then focus on how these basic concepts could practically be applied. It is hoped that you will find this module enlightening and useful and give you an appreciation for how Science assists us in shaping our world. The course is non-Calculus based and requires a basic understanding of mathematics.
