Welcome to the Interior Design Communication 101 module! In this module, you will be introduced to creating spaces that combine user needs with design theory thereby meeting project requirements through design thinking, design implementation, and problem-solving.

The module is structured towards your eventual functioning in the workplace, in which you will need to create design schemes that demonstrate knowledge of fundamental principles and terminologies associated with Interior Design. Document the conceptual process and development thereof. Plan interior environments and communicate such procedures, and identify and solve problems within the confinement of a brief, by discussing the historical design context and applying associated design theory to design schemes.

You will be given theory lectures, assignments, practical work in the form of a portfolio, and assignments to complete. While you will need to know and understand the theory in the course notes, you will need to be able to apply what you know to your assignments. You will also need to read other material (library books, journals, and recommended interior design communication books) to supplement the information you receive in theory lectures.
